Hiking is a must for nature lovers visiting the Black Forest. In Schenkenzell you can get to know the valleys and the charming heights of the Black Forest without the hustle and bustle of tourism.

You will find comfortable, slightly ascending paths as well as high altitude trails for the experienced hiker. More than 300 km of well-marked hiking trails are at your disposal in unspoilt nature.

In Schenkenzell there are the Rafting Trail, the Hansjakob Trail, the Middle Trail, the East Trail and the Kinzigtäler Jakobusweg.

Hikers of St. James receive a pilgrim’s booklet, pilgrim’s stamp and St. James’ shell at the Tourist Info.

Popular hiking destinations are, for example, the nostalgic monastery in the idyllic district of Wittichen or the drinking water reservoir Kleine Kinzig. The mining history is documented on a 7 km long geological nature trail. With a little luck you can still find minerals today.

Directly from the hotel you can start on numerous hiking trails. Destinations are for example Schiltach, the Schenkenburg, the customs house, Teufels Küche, Alpirsbach, the wooden plain with game reserve,…

A new hiking map has been published by the tourist information offices in Schenkenzell, Schiltach and Alpirsbach. The hiking map on a scale of 1 : 25,000 and new, uniform path markings is available at the Schenkenzell Tourist Information Office or from us at the Hotel Winterhaldenhof at a price of 3.90 euros.
